There are many benefits to taking on an intern - one that stands out is the fact that interns often bring oodles of energy and fresh ideas into your business.

Did you know that the Nike Swoosh was created by a graphic design student, Carolyn Davidson, who issued a USD$35 invoice for this now important piece of design history? Or that the late Steve Jobs did a summer internship with Hewlett Packard after contacting them for parts for a school project. It's where he met Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Who knows? You could be mentoring and inspiring the creator of the next unicorn tech company in Australia. At the very least, you'll help prepare the next generation of talent as they enter the workforce.

At Paddl, we've taken on interns who have progressed within the business. Arpa Barua interned for over a year assisting with various projects as a casual employee. In addition to gaining important workplace skills, she enjoyed all the perks of working at Paddl including flexible hours, fortnightly team celebrations, rewards for employee of the month and many more. She's now a graduate software engineer working closely with our engineering team. Chris Girardi started a full-time three-month summer internship in October 2017. He's now a core part of the marketing team.

Both were excellent hires using paddljobs.com our very own platform - because we're dogfooding (tech slang for using the product we build).

On that note, we invite you to consider offering an internship, casual work, graduate or entry-level role for your small (or large) projects. For information on relevant pay rates, Fair Work has great resources available to Australian employers including a pay calculator
